I like watching sports, but I still need a project during that time. Yesterday over some afternoon football I decided to make a hard hat for the 10:1 scale minifig I made a while back and lives in my office like a lego mini me.
It’s a bit of a rough model and someone could definitely improve it, but it fits perfectly and I got it done before the game was over so it’s a success!
My latest hard hat project has been “launched” and if you’re coming to LayerOne, you can see it in action!
I have a full project page live here on the site, which you can find at honeybear.hydrox.fun, but in short it’s a fully functional and live on the public internet SSH honeypot, that happens to be running on a hard hat.
Last year at DEFCON 32, while out and about in my wifi scanning hard hat, I saw so many other amazing hard hats and related projects I knew I wanted to make something new for this year. I also knew that I really wanted to go the extreme opposite direction in terms of style. To be clear, I love the cyberpunk, black, Matrix-vibey style, but I thought it would super punk rock to make a techy hard hat that was cute! That’s where I started on this project and I ended up with the Honey Bear Honey Pot software and a hard hat custom built to run it.
I’ve lived in Los Angeles for 9 years, DEFCON 33 will be my 9th year, and yet I’ve never made it LayerOne…but that’s changing this year!
In a little over a month, I’ll be driving over to Pasadena to attend LayerOne and I’m excited to check it out. I’ve only heard great things about it, and I’m particularly excited to give my new hard hat project a dry run there and collect notes for DEFCON.
